The room seemed to shrink around Sarah. The project, her baby, was being unveiled by another team, a team led by Mark, her former mentor. His presentation was a mirror image of hers. A cold shiver snaked down her spine. The auditorium lights felt too bright, the air too close. She fidgeted, playing with the edge of her notepad. Her leg bounced relentlessly, a frantic rhythm against the floor. She needed to leave, to escape, but she felt rooted to her seat, a terrified captive audience.
