Gemotions

The park felt wrong. Too open, too bright. He kept his hands in his pockets, his shoulders hunched. The sunlight seemed to pierce him, making him feel exposed, vulnerable. He hated the feeling. The news had left him reeling, uncertain. He didn't want to think about it.

He sat on a bench, trying to find some semblance of calm. Then he saw her, across the grassy expanse. The other one. She was staring at him, her expression unreadable.

He stood up abruptly, brushing off his trousers, and began to walk away, his pace quickening. He felt a tightening in his throat, a desire to disappear. He tried to tell himself that it was a coincidence, that she was just another person enjoying a sunny day. But he knew better. He knew what she was.
