Gemotions

The violets were tucked under the door, a small, unassuming bunch. She nearly tripped over them when she arrived home from work. She stared at them, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. A chill ran down her spine, and she shivered. The late afternoon sun cast long shadows, making the apartment feel even more isolating.

She picked them up cautiously, their delicate petals brushing against her skin. She didn't recognize the handwriting on the small, plain envelope. The return address was blank.
