Gemotions

“Did you find anything?” His sister asked, her voice echoing in the echoing garage. He swallowed hard, pushing a small, leather-bound book toward her. The cover was blank, unmarked. He just stared at the open box, suddenly afraid.

She opened the book. The first page was a drawing. A childish depiction of a tall, faceless figure. A wave of nausea swept over him. He felt the blood drain from his face.

The rest of the pages were filled with cryptic sketches and symbols, none of which he could decipher. He could feel her looking at him, a confused expression on her face. He felt exposed, stripped bare.

He grabbed the book, abruptly shutting it. He needed to be alone. He walked out of the garage, the humid air pressing in on him, the feeling of being watched intensified with every step.
