Gemotions

The news broke at the office; a forwarded email from a neighbor. He sat at his desk, staring at the message. The words swam before his eyes. He felt a sharp pain in his chest, as if a weight had suddenly settled there.

He excused himself and went to the bathroom, where he splashed cold water on his face. Looking at his reflection in the mirror, he saw a stranger. All the confidence he usually carried seemed to have vanished.

He tried to focus on his work, but his mind kept wandering back to the thought of the future. He couldn’t escape it.
