Gemotions

The aroma of freshly baked bread usually filled her with a sense of comfort. Today, however, it seemed to be a distraction. She tried to focus on the recipe, but the rhythmic hammering from next door was too powerful.

Her hands moved mechanically as she followed the instructions, but her mind was elsewhere. She kept imagining the destruction, the transformation. Her stomach churned.

She pulled the bread from the oven, her gaze darting about. The silence in the kitchen felt oppressive. She took a deep breath, fighting the urge to run, to escape the inescapable noise. It was as if everything was wrong.
