The morning sun cast long shadows, but Clara barely noticed. She stood on the patchy lawn, clutching her lukewarm coffee, a tremor running through her. Where was it? Her breath hitched in her throat. The driveway, usually a familiar comfort, now presented a gaping absence, a stark emptiness. She chewed at her lip, a habit she thought she'd broken years ago. Her car, the reliable blue sedan, vanished.

A hollow feeling echoed in her chest as the tow truck driver shrugged, handing her the paperwork. He mumbled something about "no parking" regulations, but the words were a distant drone. Her hands felt clumsy, fumbling with the papers. Her gaze kept darting back to the empty spot, the silent accusation. The world seemed tilted, slightly off-kilter.

She spent the entire day adrift, unable to focus. Each time her phone rang, a jolt of anxiety shot through her. The mundane tasks of the day felt insurmountable. Dinner, left untouched, sat cold on the table.
