Gemotions

He kept finding himself staring at the wall in the master bedroom, the one behind the massive, antique wardrobe. A prickling sensation crawled across his skin whenever he looked at it. Thomas ran a hand through his hair, a nervous habit he'd developed since the move. The house felt…off. Like a poorly tuned instrument, the notes weren't quite right.

One evening, while repositioning the wardrobe, he noticed a subtle difference in the wallpaper. A barely visible seam. Curiosity, and something else, drove him to investigate. He ran his fingers along the paper, seeking a weakness, a give.

The panel swung inward with a soft click, revealing a narrow staircase descending into shadow. The air rushing out of the opening was thick and cold. Thomas felt the hairs on the back of his neck rise. He fumbled for his phone, the flashlight beam trembling in his hand as he descended, his heart a frantic drum against his ribs.
