Gemotions

"This place…it's not for us," James muttered to his wife, Sarah, as they walked through the halls. The house, with its towering ceilings and expansive gardens, was meant to be their haven. Instead, it filled James with a constant, simmering apprehension.

He was examining the ornate molding in the formal dining room, when he felt a draft on his neck. His hands, usually steady, began to tremble. A section of the wall behind the molding moved with a gentle push.

The wall yielded to reveal a hidden door, which opened into a dark room. James immediately wanted to turn around, to run. Sarah, seeing his reaction, put her hand on his arm, but he couldn't speak. He stared into the darkness, a heavy weight settling in his stomach.
