The scent of incense, usually a source of calm, now seemed to intensify the tension in the air. The thought of a lizard, basking under a heat lamp, created a wave of anxiety that washed over him. He felt strangely agitated.

He crossed his arms, staring at the empty space where the reptile's enclosure might go. The apartment, once a sanctuary, now seemed to offer no comfort. He felt a profound sense of instability.
