Gemotions

"You seem on edge, Tom," said his supervisor, glancing at him. Tom quickly plastered a smile on his face. He kept snapping his fingers, a nervous habit he had developed since the promotion talks started. He just wanted it to be over.

He felt claustrophobic, trapped. He found himself pacing in the small office, his movements agitated. He could feel the eyes of his colleagues on him; the weight of expectation was palpable. He imagined them talking about him, analyzing his every move.

He went to the window, staring out at the cityscape, feeling like he was watching a play he wasn’t sure how to end. The vibrant scene seemed to mock his current emotional state. He was trapped in a vortex, unable to escape the pressure.
