Gemotions

Rain lashed against the window of Leo’s tiny apartment. He kept running his hands through his already messy hair. The marketing meeting earlier had felt… off. He couldn’t quite place it.

Sarah, beaming at him with her usual cheerful energy, had brought up Camp Hemlock. Leo's stomach clenched. A phantom chill ran down his spine.

"Remember that crazy campfire song about the swamp monster?" Sarah had asked, laughing. "You always sang it so enthusiastically!"

He'd mumbled something noncommittal, and busied himself with the handouts. The room seemed to shrink, the air becoming thick and difficult to breathe. He needed to get out, he needed air. He excused himself, mumbled something about a phone call, and fled.
