Gemotions

The paint fumes were usually a comforting scent, a familiar signal of creativity. Today, they churned his stomach. He looked around the studio, the canvases scattered across the floor. He should be elated. His art show, after months of toil, was finally happening. But seeing the same brushstrokes, the same colour palette, the same bold statements, hanging in another gallery down the street… it felt like someone had stolen his soul.

He paced back and forth, each step heavy, measured, as if he were carrying an immense weight. He picked up a brush, dipped it in crimson, and then dropped it, the clatter echoing in the hushed space. The image in his mind, the artwork that had taken him months to create, felt as if it had been drained of all its meaning.
