Gemotions

The letter arrived in the mail – an invitation to a gala hosted by the Thompsons. David, reading the gilded script, felt a flicker of something unpleasant. He knew the Thompsons, of course. They always seemed so…average.

He crumpled the invitation in his hand. He glanced at the stacks of bills on the kitchen counter, the looming deadlines, the constant struggle. His jaw clenched.

He threw the crumpled paper into the trash. The air in his house felt stagnant, heavy. He turned on the television, aimlessly flipping through the channels, but nothing held his interest. He felt a strong desire to just disappear.
