He stared at the grade, the screen blurring. A wave of heat washed over him, prickling his skin. This wasn’t possible. He'd followed the rubric meticulously, double-checked his sources, and even stayed late at the computer lab to polish his presentation. A cold pressure formed behind his eyes, a tightness that made it hard to breathe. He clicked the refresh button, then again, just in case. The 'D' remained stubbornly fixed. He felt an urge to scream, to lash out at someone, anyone. The weight of disappointment settled on his shoulders, heavy and immovable.
