"But…but I thought I aced it," Sarah stammered, her voice thin, almost a whisper. She looked at Professor Davies, the kindly professor's face now a mask she couldn't decipher. Her palms were slick with sweat, and she ran a hand through her hair, as if trying to smooth the shock out of it. The classroom, usually a source of comfort, suddenly felt alien and hostile. The air seemed thick, making it difficult to draw a full breath. A dizzying sensation swirled in her head, like she’d been spun around and around, and the world was refusing to stop.
