Gemotions

He found himself wandering the sterile halls of the hospital, the fluorescent lights humming a discordant tune that amplified his unease. His palms were slick, and he kept wiping them on his jeans. Everything felt…wrong. The air hung heavy, thick with the scent of antiseptic and fear.

A nurse called his name. He followed her into a room where a woman sat, clutching a teddy bear. She looked up, her eyes wide, and he felt a jolt of recognition. They both had the same pale complexion, the same sunken eyes.

“Are you…?” he started, unsure how to phrase it.

She nodded, a small, almost imperceptible movement. “The doctor said… Malacia Nervosa?”

He exhaled slowly. The knot in his stomach loosened slightly. He wasn't alone.

"They told me I was going crazy," he confessed, voice rough.

"Me too," she agreed. "Sometimes I feel like I am falling apart, piece by piece."
