The old house creaked and groaned around her, each sound amplifying the disquiet that had become her constant companion. She paced the worn floorboards, a restless energy coursing through her. Sleep had become a distant memory.

A delivery driver, a young man with kind eyes, brought a package. A small, unassuming box. Inside, a book with no author listed. A book about a rare medical condition. Malacia Nervosa.

The young man was still at her doorstep. He looked at her and asked: "Do you ever get the feeling... of everything being wrong?"

She nodded numbly.
