The news report blared from the television, a relentless stream of information that seemed to echo the chaos in her mind. She turned the volume down, but the noise wouldn't abate. Every headline, every image, fueled the internal tremors. She rubbed her eyes.

A message popped up on her screen. An email from someone she didn't know. The subject line: "Malacia Nervosa - Are you alone?"

Hesitantly, she clicked the email open. An invitation to a support group. A picture of a man with the same unsettling look that haunted her own reflection. His name, on the bottom, was the same name the doctor gave.

She felt a flicker of hope. And a wave of dread.
