Gemotions

The lilies were delivered during the first snow of the season. A startling contrast, the white blossoms against the stark white ground. They came with no sender. He hated lilies.

He usually enjoyed the quiet of his apartment. Now, the silence amplified the anxiety buzzing within him. He found himself checking the window every few minutes, his breath misting on the glass. He felt cold, though the thermostat was set high.

He made a cup of tea, but couldn't bring himself to drink it. The steam rose, forming ghostly shapes in the air. He tried to read, but the words blurred before his eyes. The white flowers stared at him, innocent and menacing. He started calling his friends and family, wanting to hear their voices.
