The doctor’s words echoed in Clara's mind: "possible complications." The uncertainty about her pregnancy was eating away at her. She needed a distraction, something to take her mind off the constant worry. She eyed the drawings Lily had left on the kitchen counter. A tall, skinny figure with mismatched limbs and a wide smile was playing with stick figures. It was the same one from Clara's childhood - Giggles, her imaginary friend.

Clara’s hands trembled as she looked at the drawing. A wave of exhaustion washed over her. She felt overwhelmed, as if everything was beyond her control. She sunk into a chair, the cheerful depiction of Giggles seeming to mock her vulnerability. She wanted to scream. She wanted to cry.
