He hadn't felt this way in years. John sat in his chair, staring out the window, at the towering buildings, the bustling city streets. He’d invested so much of himself into this company. He felt a deep, profound sense of… being untethered. He ran a hand over his face, feeling the weariness etched into his features.

He felt the familiar urge to retreat, to withdraw, to shut the world out. He wanted to shut down his computer, walk out the door, and just… disappear. He closed his eyes, his mind replaying all the happy memories he had here, only to feel them now tinged with a painful melancholy.
