The office air conditioning hummed, a monotonous drone that did nothing to alleviate the internal pressure building inside David. He chewed nervously on his lip, his gaze fixed on his phone. He had just received a passive-aggressive email from his boss. Before he could think, he'd drafted a text: “I can't believe I am stuck in this job.” He'd meant to send it to his wife, venting his frustration. He sent the message to his boss. His eyes widened. He immediately deleted the message. He ran his hand through his hair, his heart racing. He hoped his boss would think it was a glitch.
