“It’s just… it’s fine,” David mumbled, his voice tight. His wife, noticing his change in demeanor, asked him what was wrong. The party next door, a celebration of their neighbors’ new yacht, was the root of his distress. He tried to hide his true feelings.

He excused himself from the dinner table, unable to choke down another bite. The yacht, the expensive cars, the designer clothes - it all felt like a world away from his own reality. He had worked diligently his entire life, and yet, he was barely keeping his head above water.

He walked into the study and slammed the door. The feeling in his chest intensified; a burning, suffocating sensation. He wanted to scream. He wanted to punch something. He wanted it to stop.
