The fluorescent lights of the hospital waiting room hummed, a monotonous sound that did little to soothe Ethan’s nerves. He needed this nursing position. It was a chance to finally make a difference. As he was called into the interview room, his hands were clammy, but he forced them to remain steady. The interviewer, a woman with kind eyes, began her questioning. Ethan answered with a deep and controlled voice, describing his experience and dedication to patient care.

As he discussed his past, he felt a surge of emotion. He'd been given the opportunity to show himself. Once the interview was over, a sense of relief washed over him. He felt as though he had run a marathon, and had somehow managed to keep going.
