The small, constant worry had become a dull ache in Charles's side. His wife, Patricia, was withdrawn. The phone calls, always held in private, were the final straw. He needed to know what was happening. He wasn't going to let this tear them apart.

He pretended to be asleep when she returned from a late-night errand. After she was asleep, he crept out of bed and quietly made his way into her office. He found the phone on her desk, and scrolled through the recent calls, his heart dropping with each number he did not recognize.

Charles, with a new purpose, headed downstairs. He wouldn't allow his marriage to be destroyed by secrets.
