Rain lashed the windows of the coffee shop, mirroring the storm brewing inside Chloe. She faced her childhood friend, Sarah, across the small, round table. Sunlight filtered through the droplets on the glass, making Sarah's face look almost ethereal.

“I still can’t believe you think I did it,” Chloe said, her voice strained. They were talking about the night of the talent show, and the missing trophy.

Sarah gently stirred her latte. “Chloe, I saw you. You were the only one backstage. And the trophy was gone the next morning. You were so *certain* you were going to win, I just thought…"

A jolt of righteous indignation surged through Chloe. “Certain? I was *prepared*! I’d practiced for months! I wouldn't have sabotaged anyone. I remember being there when it disappeared. I checked the lock, and the door was open! And I went around looking for it."

Sarah’s expression softened. "I know, I know. It's just… so weird. Because that was the night you were so eager to show off how great you were."

Chloe slammed her fist gently on the table.
