Gemotions

The heat of the attic pressed down on her as she climbed the stairs. She imagined the previous owners – a couple who'd moved out in a hurry – carelessly abandoning their belongings. A smirk played on her lips. She would not be careless. She would conquer.

She switched on the light, and the attic was revealed. A landscape of boxes, furniture, and forgotten objects. She surveyed the scene, her eyes narrowed. She saw a dusty piano in the corner. She would get it out of here. She would clear this place.

The first box she tackled contained old photographs. She sat on the floor, sifting through the images, piecing together fragments of the past. The dust swirled around her, but she didn’t care. She felt invigorated. This was hers to own.
