He had a purpose, a drive that coursed through him as he pushed open the attic door. He was not intimidated by the gloom or the clutter. This was his home now, and he would reclaim every inch. The previous owners, a family known for their hoarding, had left behind a chaotic mess.

The attic's darkness was broken only by a single bare bulb. He surveyed the space. He had work to do. He squared his shoulders and began his assessment.

He started with a collection of framed paintings stacked against the wall. He lifted each one, examining its surface, guessing at its value. He would see these paintings removed from this place. He would find them a proper home.
