Gemotions

The radio crackled, then the first notes of *his* song, “Midnight Train”, poured from the speaker. He was in his beat-up pickup truck, miles from anywhere, the gravel road stretching endlessly ahead. A grin spread across his face, pushing away the weariness of the long drive. It was surreal. He cranked up the volume, the music vibrating through the metal frame of the truck. His foot pressed harder on the accelerator. He felt a surge of confidence, a belief in his own abilities that had been missing for so long. He sang along, his voice rough but filled with conviction. He was invincible.
