The sunlight was harsh as Isabella squinted at the collection of photos. The woman in the picture, her great-aunt, had always been portrayed as a saint. These photographs showed something different. Flapper dresses, smoky rooms, and a man who was most definitely not her husband. Isabella’s hands trembled.

A surge of energy coursed through her. She felt a burning need to defend the family's honor, even if it meant exposing the truth. She would not back down. Isabella was determined to find the truth, even if it led her down a treacherous path.

She would prove her great aunt was just as interesting, just as alive, just as complex as anyone. She straightened up and headed down to the local library.
