The relentless thumping had been going on for hours. It was more than just noise; it was an imposition. He felt a familiar tightening in his jaw, a sense of… purpose. He would not be deterred.

He put on his shoes and headed out of the door. As he walked, the music grew louder, the beat a taunting challenge. He reached the source of the noise and knocked firmly.

A woman in her late twenties opened the door, a cigarette in her hand. "Yeah?" she said, her tone dismissive.

He stood up tall. "The music is too loud," he stated. He wouldn't back down.
