The musty scent of lavender and old paper clung to Amelia's fingers as she unfolded the list. Her mother, Eleanor, had always been a woman of carefully curated routines, but this was a revelation: "Ride a mechanical bull." Amelia snorted, then straightened her spine. She tracked down a country bar on the outskirts of town. Her heart hammered against her ribs as she walked through the doors, the bass of the country music vibrating through the floorboards. "One mechanical bull ride, please," she said to the burly bartender, her voice surprisingly steady.
