The end-of-year blues had hit Ms. Dubois hard. The classroom was empty, the air thick with the memory of students gone, of the lessons that felt unheeded. She felt empty.

A courier delivered a small, leather-bound journal. A single, elegant note was inside: "Thank you, Ms. Dubois. For teaching me to see the world." Signed: "Alex."

She flipped through the blank pages, a sudden determination bubbling up inside her. Alex, the shy, introverted boy, had blossomed under her guidance. She had taught him to write his own story.

She smiled, a genuine smile that reached her eyes. She picked up a pen and started writing the beginning of a new chapter of her own life.
