The manuscript lay open on the kitchen table, illuminated by the harsh fluorescent light. Sarah had found it after a late night of laundry, and now, a fire burned in her chest. Her partner, Michael, had crafted a character based on her, yet twisted her into a caricature. The "Sarah" in the book was a cold, distant woman, and that was not her.

She, however, would not shrink into the shadows.

She would confront him. She would show him the truth. Her jaw was set, and her fists were clenched. The fight to protect herself was now beginning. She would claim her identity back. She would go toe-to-toe with him in the ring.

She strode toward the living room, ready for battle.
