The sun beat down on Silas as he excavated the time capsule. It was a scorching day, and he was drenched in sweat, but he refused to quit. He’d found the small metal box while helping his elderly neighbor tend to her garden. The neighbor was gone, and the garden needed care.

He straightened, wiping his brow. There was a sense of…duty in his actions. He felt a deep connection to something larger than himself, a sense of purpose.

Inside, he discovered a small, wooden carving of a bird. It was perfectly preserved, its tiny details still crisp. He cradled it in his hands, a smile playing on his lips. He understood. He would take it to the town museum.
