Rain lashed against the attic window as Amelia crept forward, a flashlight beam cutting through the dust motes. She’d found the list tucked between a chipped teacup and a stack of old love letters – her partner, Daniel’s, bucket list. One item, scrawled in his familiar handwriting, stood out: “See the Northern Lights.” A smile tugged at her lips. Daniel, always dreaming of the extraordinary.

A plan began to hatch in her mind. He’d been working himself ragged lately, and a trip would be a perfect surprise. She pulled out her phone and started researching flights to Iceland. The chill of the attic seemed to melt away as a warmth spread through her. This was something she could handle.
