Gemotions

The scent of freshly baked bread drifted from the open window as Liam heard a knock. It was Ms. Davies, her usual bubbly demeanor replaced with an anxious expression. He knew what was coming.

"Liam, dear," she began, twisting her hands together. "I hate to ask, but…"

He held up a hand. "You don't need to explain, Ms. Davies. What can I do?" He felt a powerful urge to protect.

She smiled faintly. "I was hoping… a small area for a vegetable garden. My knees aren't what they used to be."

Liam felt his chest swell. He grinned. "It's a deal! I'll get the soil ready, and we’ll figure out a good spot." He imagined the delicious meals she'd cook, the vibrant colors of the vegetables. He wanted to help her.
