Gemotions

The clatter of dishes in the sink was interrupted by a timid voice calling from the back porch. It was Kevin's neighbor, Mr. Garcia. Kevin glanced at himself in the mirror, already imagining the conversation. He steeled himself and opened the door.

Mr. Garcia looked uncomfortable. He shuffled his feet and stared at the ground. "Kevin, I was wondering…" he mumbled. "Could I maybe use a little bit of your yard?"

Kevin took a deep breath. "Sure, Mr. Garcia. What did you have in mind?" The challenge of any task, however big or small, ignited a fire within him.

Mr. Garcia's face lifted slightly. "I was hoping to try growing some of the herbs my grandmother used to grow. I've missed the smell, the taste…"

Kevin smiled, then put his hand on Mr. Garcia's shoulder. "Then you can grow them. Consider it done." He could already picture the vibrant herbs, the rich aromas. He’d make sure it happened.
