The doctor’s soothing words did nothing to quell the fire raging inside her. They had given her the wrong diagnosis, the one belonging to a woman with a terminal illness. Her healthy life, her future – all stolen. Now, she was forced to deal with the fear of her own mortality. Her breaths came in short, shallow gasps.

She left the clinic, her gait brisk, purposeful. She stopped at the local pharmacy, a place she frequented for vitamins. She would make this right.

She inquired about the medications the other woman had been prescribed.
