Gemotions

The sterile white of the doctor's office seemed to amplify the silence. Michael stared at the embossed invitation, the words "Twenty Year Reunion" mocking him. His hands trembled slightly as he ran his fingers over the words. He'd been the funny guy, the one who always made them laugh. Then came the illness, the slow decline, the pitying looks.

He closed his eyes, picturing them, the jocks, the cheerleaders, the popular kids who had now probably moved on in life. He would show them, he thought. He would show them all that he was still someone worth noticing. He looked towards the door and then back at the invitation.
