He’d called it a “moment of weakness,” a desperate plea for forgiveness. But Maya wasn’t in the business of forgiveness. Not now. Her fingers, usually steady, trembled as she started her new project. She carefully, painstakingly, re-wrote his essay on the history of the printing press, replacing every historical fact with utter nonsense.

The next morning, she watched from her bed as he frantically tried to find the source for each of his arguments. His eyes flicked to the ceiling, then to the floor. Then, he let out a frustrated shout.

Maya cracked a smile. She made a mental note to ‘accidentally’ knock his favorite coffee mug off the shelf next week.
