He began posting a stream of cryptic, almost poetic, complaints. He’d lament the "prison" of school, and the "oppression" of mandatory classes. He would also post photos of his homework, but always with a caption mentioning how it "lacked originality."

Ms. Ramirez began to call on him less frequently in class. He noticed her watching him from across the room. The silence between them was palpable. He found the subtle change in her behavior deeply enjoyable.
