“New follower.” The words on her phone caused a small tremor to run down Chloe’s spine. Mr. Evans, the overly enthusiastic drama teacher, was now connected. His presence felt intrusive. Her inner self became energized.

She started posting scenes from her life which were heavily influenced by his over-the-top methods. She’d video herself dramatically ordering a pizza, or shouting to her mother from the top of the stairs. She then posted videos of herself criticizing the drama club’s recent performances.

He seemed to notice. The next week, his lessons were filled with awkward silences and subtle jabs. Chloe caught his eye several times, and gave him a wide, innocent smile. She felt a lightness in her chest.
