Gemotions

The letter, penned in elegant script, was addressed to a woman who was not his wife. It was a letter, penned long ago, meant to be a declaration of love. He was stunned. He'd always suspected his late husband of being dishonest, but finding it confirmed his suspicions. Now, the words felt like a physical weight, pressing down on his chest.

He threw the letter into the fireplace, and watched the paper turn to ash. He wanted it all to be gone, the hurt and the lies. He stood there, as he watched the flames consume the paper, his face hard and unyielding. The ashes were all that was left.
