Sarah’s fingers traced the outline of the "E" on her name tag. Three hours, trapped with Mark. The man who’d stolen her project, the man who’d taken credit for her work. A slow burn had been building in her chest since she’d learned the news last week. Now, as the elevator juddered to a halt, that burn intensified.

Her lips pressed into a thin line, the corners of her eyes crinkling with barely suppressed emotion. Mark rambled on about the inconvenience, but Sarah just nodded, her gaze fixed on the ceiling.

She made a mental note of all the things she wanted to say to her boss when they finally got out, all of the evidence she wanted to make sure they saw. She smiled to herself, a small, subtle upturn of the lips. The thought of Mark finally getting his comeuppance was a delicious thought.
