"The noise is disrupting my meditation," the yoga instructor had sniffed, her voice thin and reedy. It was a lie, he knew. She simply enjoyed being unpleasant.

He decided on a course of action. He began to practice his trumpet. He hadn’t touched the instrument in years, and his skills were…lacking.

He stood outside her window and blew his terrible notes. The sounds were loud and off-key. He continued until his lips ached and his ears rang, feeling a strange satisfaction at the thought of her discomfort.
