The crinkled paper felt brittle beneath her fingertips. Sarah hadn't been snooping, not really. She’d just been looking for a pen. But there it was, tucked into the back of David’s desk drawer: a list. "Swim with sharks." "Learn to play the guitar." And, scrawled in neat handwriting, "Marry the woman of my dreams." A tight knot formed in Sarah's stomach.

A cold wave washed over her. She knew, with a certainty that chilled her to the bone, that she was not on this list.

She considered the implications as she meticulously replaced everything, smoothing out the paper. Her fingers itched for something. She made a decision.

That evening, she signed David up for a beginner’s guitar class…taught by a woman with impossibly long blonde hair.
