He stared at the page, the ink bleeding slightly where a tear had fallen. "See the Northern Lights" was number three. "Climb Mount Kilimanjaro" was number seven. And then, at the bottom, in a hurried scrawl, "Tell the truth, finally." A smirk played across Mark’s lips. Lies. All his life, he'd been fed them.

A throbbing sensation pulsed in his temples. He had a few truths of his own to share.

He called his mother, who had always adored his partner, and told her all the things he'd never said. He was surprised by how easily the words came, like a dam had broken.

He spent the next week arranging a trip to Iceland, not for the two of them, but just for himself, with his brother.
