The U-Haul rattled, a metal beast chewing its way down Elm Street. Liam grinned, tapping a rhythm against the steering wheel. Sunbeams sliced through the gaps in the moving boxes, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. He hadn't felt this light in years. This felt right. A whole new chapter. He could practically taste it.

He swung open the door to his childhood home, the familiar scent of lemon Pledge and old books washing over him. His mom, her face etched with a mixture of concern and excitement, rushed out, engulfing him in a hug. "Oh, honey," she breathed, her voice thick with emotion. He squeezed her back, a chuckle bubbling up from his chest. "Ready or not, Mom, here I come."
